This letter was written when Patton was posted to Ft. Myer between the wars as commander of the 3rd Cavalry. The letter was written at the conclusion of an exercise with the 3rd Cavalry regiment and the 3rd Corps. The letter reads:

"This is to simply thank you again for the care and consideration you and the officers under you showed to the 3rd Cav. Due to your considreration, a trip we all looked forward to with reluctance became a pleasant trip to remember. Further I want to thabnk you also for my very agreeable morning with you and for a most charming luncheon. With best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. . . "

Early Patton autograph material related to the military matters and not to family correspondence is very scarce and desireable.

The letter is typed on typical octavo bifold stationery with a Patton monogram, as a header. It in excellent condition with a beautiful, bold G S Patton, Jr. signature. There are some punch holes as shown (used to file the letter) but they do not enter the signature.
